There are several operating systems being used from 4.0 Kitkat all the way up to 9.0 Pie. I have been noticing some apps not working on certain operating systems. 9.0 Pie, the latest operating system out has been the most noticeable with apps not working on it and I believe it is because it just came out recently. Some developers are not catering or just abandoning 4.0-5.0 os all together. Each operating system will have bugs when it comes to certain apps. If a app does not work on your device, chances are it's because of the operating system you're running it on. Android 6.0, 7.1 and 8.1 seem to have the best compatibility with the majority of apps. Keep in mind that operating systems have approximately a 4-5 year life span before development for them starts to take a dive.
